What’s Changing?
SBI Card is tweaking its late payment charge (LPC) structure from 1st May 2026. The slabs are being reshuffled. Here’s the short version: small defaulters now get a gentler nudge, but the mid-range isn’t getting any relief.
Old vs New LPC at a Glance
The nil charge earlier applied up to ₹500. Now it applies only up to ₹100. So if your outstanding is between ₹101 and ₹500, you’ll now pay ₹100 instead of nothing. That’s a new slab that didn’t exist before.
For amounts above ₹500 and up to ₹1,000, the charge goes up from ₹400 to ₹500. Everything above ₹1,000 stays exactly the same as before.
Should You Be Worried?
If you clear your dues on time, this doesn’t touch you. But if you’re someone who occasionally misses the deadline on small amounts, the free window just got smaller.
