Marriott Bonvoy Keeps Expanding Its Airline Network
Marriott Bonvoy has been quietly but steadily growing its airline partnerships. In October 2024, it deepened its tie-up with Air Canada’s Aeroplan, adding two-way currency transfer and status match perks. Then in September 2025, Lufthansa Group’s Miles & More joined as a strategic preferred partner. Now, Ethiopian Airlines has been added – making it a key partnership with a leading African airline, connecting Ethiopian’s network of over 145 destinations with Marriott Bonvoy’s 10,000-plus properties worldwide.
That’s three notable airline additions in under 18 months. Someone at Marriott HQ has clearly been busy.
What’s the Deal With Ethiopian Airlines and Marriott Bonvoy?
ShebaMiles members can convert miles to Marriott Bonvoy points at a 2:1 ratio. Marriott Bonvoy members can convert points to ShebaMiles at the standard 3:1 ratio, with 5,000 bonus ShebaMiles added for every 60,000 points transferred in one go.
You can also skip Bonvoy points entirely on hotel stays. On eligible stays at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties, members can earn up to two ShebaMiles per US dollar spent.

As a Star Alliance member, Ethiopian Airlines gives ShebaMiles members access to flight redemptions and upgrades across 25 partner airlines serving more than 1,150 destinations. That’s a genuinely large door to open with your hotel points.
