I got the email with Amex announcing the 2025 festive offer, and honestly - it feels like one of those deals you’d actually want to use instead of ignoring. Here’s what I figured out.
First off, all cards - like the Platinum, Platinum Reserve, Platinum Travel, Gold, Membership Rewards, and SmartEarn qualify for it with varied spending criteria. So if you’ve got one of those email, you’re in. But here’s the catch - you have to enroll through the link Amex sends you in the email itself.
The spend slab is pretty straightforward. Like for example in entry level card like SmartEarn, if you end up spending ₹25,000 between Sept 15 and Oct 25, 2025, you’ll get a promo code worth ₹1,000. And if you stretch it to ₹50,000 or more, the reward jumps to ₹1,500.
Spend criteria for Membership Rewards card is ₹50,000 that will give you vouchers (or promo code) worth ₹1,500; or ₹1,00,000 of spends will fetch you ₹3,000 of gift vouchers.
For Platinum Travel card, the spend criteria is ₹1,00,000 to receive vouchers of ₹3,000; or ₹2,00,000 will get you ₹6,000 of vouchers.
The most premium card, Platinum offers ₹6,000 of promo code on spends of ₹2,00,000; or this increased to ₹10,000 in vouchers once spends cross ₹3,00,000.
Like wise the conditions of spends varies across all credit and charge cards.
Note that you can use the voucher/promo codes on places like Amazon, Flipkart, Swiggy, Zomato, Nykaa, BookMyShow, Lifestyle, MakeMyTrip include others – even Air India and ITC Hotels.
Now, here’s the thing – you only get one reward. Let’s say for Membership Rewards card, if you go past ₹1,00,000, you’re capped at the ₹3,000 promo code. And the code itself? Valid for just 25 days after you get it, which will be around mid-December (they said by Dec 15, 2025). You know what that means – it’s basically timed for end-of-year shopping or maybe holiday travel.
One caution is that refunds or reversals during the offer period will reduce your “eligible spend”. Like, if you spend ₹25,000 and then return ₹5,000 worth of stuff, Amex only counts ₹20,000. You won’t qualify. So you’ve got to be a bit careful there.
All in all, I like that it’s simple: spend, enroll, get a code. No complicated points math. The only part is that short 25-day validity on the code. I can totally see myself forgetting to use it – have you ever lost a voucher just because you didn’t notice the expiry date? Yes, same.
