If you have the Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card, brace for a bit of fine print from mid-January 2026. The bank has announced a few new charges and tweaks that may pinch regular users but won’t break the bank – unless you’re fond of topping up wallets or gaming apps.
New fees for wallets and gaming apps
From January 15, 2026, ICICI Bank will begin charging 2% on transaction made on gaming platforms like Dream11, Rummy Culture, Junglee Games and MPL.
Topping up wallets won’t be free either. A 1% fee will kick for wallets loads of ₹5,000 or above on apps like Paytm, Amazon Pay, MobiKwik, and OlaMoney. For those who constantly shuffle money between apps, that’s something to keep in mind.
High value travel spends to attract a charge
If you use this card for transport booking over ₹50,000, a 1% charge will apply. It’s unlikely your daily cab ride will qualify, but a pricey overseas transfer or tour payment just might.
Dynamic Currency Conversion fee doubles
The DCC fee, which applies to international transactions billed in rupees, will rise from 1% to 1.99%. In short, using this card abroad or at foreign-registered merchants in India is about to get costlier and now matched the card’s existing forex markup fees.
Other small but important updates
Paying your credit card bill in cash at an ICICI branch will now cost ₹150 (up from ₹100). There’s also a new UPI ID format for card payments:
ccpay.<10-digit mobile number><last 4 digit of card>@icici
Lastly, closing or cancelling an ongoing EMI after purchase will attract foreclosure charges – so think before you opt for “No Cost EMI” the next time.
In all, the changes remind us of two things, One, free transactions rarely stay free forever. Two, reading those email updates from your bank is still worth your morning chai.
